There Is No Castration Fear
- Dimensions: 48" x 48"
- Medium/Materials: oil on gessoed paper
- Year: 2009
- notes: After four paintings about albums recorded in the early 70's, before I was born, I decided to make one that was a bit more relevant to the time I grew up in. "Wowee Zowee" by Pavement was a perfect choice for a bunch of reasons. They embody the "Slacker" aesthetic that was so lauded in the early-mid 90's when I was in my formative early-mid 20's which informs the casual formal aspects of these paintings (they're on paper because I couldn't be bothered to make them on canvas). It's also a double album, which is something I wanted to tackle formally except in true Pavement fashion their double album only takes up three sides!
